Author's Note: My goal in writing this has been to explore an alternative course of development for Severus Snape, starting at the end of his fifth year at Hogwarts and continuing through the end of Harry's seventh year. I have tried to stay true to the core character of canon, while bearing in mind the ways that making different choices and living in consequently different circumstances would affect the ways in which he expressed his character.
